SDV international Logistics helps to boost
Vietnam’s energy (03/03)
Since November 2002 the SDV Group is handling the transport
operation of the combined-cycle Phu My 2.2 power plant (steam/gas)
in Vietnam. This project is the first project totally financed
with private equities.
The site is located in Phu My, 80 km South East of Ho Chi Minh
City on the highway heading to Vung Tau. The Baria- Vung Tau province
is the only province in Vietnam exploring and operating gas and
oil and specialized in the energy production sector. Five power
plants have been built plus plastic and fertilizer plants too.
This province owns its own access gate to the Baria Serece deep
port, known as the “Phu My” port. During the year 2001 the Baria
Vung Tau province granted 6 projects valued at 836.1 Mio USD.
The aim of the Phu My 2.2 power plant is to raise the Vietnam’s
energy about 715 MW by using the natural gas of the Nam Con Son
off-shore gas field. The Phu My 2.2 power plant shall be fed via
a 380 km sub-marine pipeline.
Shipments with a total of 65,000 cbm are routed to Ho Chi Minh
City and Phu My port/airport, where SDV Vietnam proceeds to the
customs formalities before delivery to the job site. A particular
attention is required for the heavy and bulky cargoes such as
transformers (278 tons), boilers (26.80 meters length /130 tons)
and drums (147 tons/131 cbm) in a total coordination between our
SDV offices in Ho Chi Minh City and our SDV Phu My implant at
our lay-down area near the job site, ready to mobilize at any
time additional cranage and heavy lift means.
Last but not least, all parties involved are able to view the
shipment process via a dedicated website, in order to follow up
“live” on a project coming to life!
