Special project “Calipso”

SDV International Logistics in France in cooperation with the Los Angeles branch has handled a special project for NASA and Alcatel Space providing transportation and ground handling for a space satellite.
The objective of Calipso (Cloud Aerosol Lidar Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations) is to study the radiation impact of clouds and aerosols at different levels of atmosphere. CALIPSO is expected to be launched this fall.
°SDV International Logistics has participated to Calipso’s 1st journey as the special escorted convoy departed by truck from Alacatel Cannes to Marseille airport on 5/18/05.

The shipment arrived at the Bangor airport on 5/20/05 at 4.00 AM and was cleared by °SDV Los Angeles.

he shipment departed Bangor at 6.00 AM and landed at Vanderberg Air Force Base at 10.48am on 5/20/05.
The reception was handled by °SDV in Los Angeles.
This special operation for Alcatel was a success thanks to the great cooperation between °SDV International Logistics in Nice, Marseille and Los Angeles as well as °SDV Aerospace in the U.S.
