Tree Planting Exercise

There is a lot of awareness being created on environmental preservation and the dangers of environmental degradation. Trees are an important part of our eco-system, deforestation as opposed to afforestation leads to environment calamities such as soil erosion, desertification, drought but to name a few.

On the 28th of May 2005, SDV Transami in line with our Social Corporate Responsibility goals, participated in a tree planting exercise together with other corporate company's within a section of the expansive Karura forest.

As part of our contribution, SDV Transami donated free transport for the 2000 seedlings that had to be brought to the planting site from Kericho, a town about + 400 kilometres away from Nairobi.

The occasion was graced by the Minister for Environment, honourable Kalonzo Musyoka and the Minister for Roads, honourable Raila Odinga. In their messages, they both emphasized on the importance of planting trees and the preservation of our natural forests. Also present were the local residents, parents and their children, who gave a helping hand with the planting. This was very encouraging as they also got an opportunity to learn about the importance of trees and hence the need to co-exist.

We at SDV Transami feel very proud to have been involved with this environmental exercise. Not only did we acquire 'green thumbs' but it was also our way of giving back to the community.

Our aim is to continue supporting such initiatives ensuring that we make Kenya greener!
