Tourism and the Guyanese Space Centre (CSG), established in Kourou in 1967, are Guiana's two major economic draws. The hinterland, a geographical feature specific to this region that accounts for 90% of the land, is covered with dense tropical forests and is only accessible by air and sea.

SDV International Logistics set up an office in Cayenne in 1996 and made these features work to its advantage in order to become a major player in transport and international logistics.
