Following three centuries under the rule of Portugal, Brazil became an independent nation in 1822. Exploiting vast natural resources, Brazil became Latin America's leading economic power by the 1970s and today is the ninth-largest economy in the world.

While only about five percent of the land is cultivated, Brazil is among the world's top producers of coffee, cocoa, citrus fruits, and sugar.

The country is endowed with abundant forest and mineral resources, such as bauxite, manganese, aluminum, and petroleum.

It also has a large and well-developed manufacturing industry (36% GDP). Important companies act in the steel, fuel, machinery, equipment, automotive, aircraft, consumption and technology areas among others.

Brazil is one of the first South American countries in which SDV International Logistics established a branch. SDV Brazil now has a presence in the country's main ports, airports and strategic crossroads.
