Customs formalities
Customs dues in Brunei are among the lowest in
ASEAN (80.5% zero-rated) and all tariff barriers should have been
removed by 2010. There are nonetheless some constraints such as
the import permit and licensing systems which represent non-tariff
measures to restrict imports in newly-developing or strategic
industrial sectors.
A few rules nonetheless need to be taken into account:
- You will be asked for an original invoice, a packing list
and the product’s country of origin. Pro-forma invoices are
not legally recognised.
- Dues are calculated in relation to CIF vale and invoices are
always made out on the basis of the FOB value (even if the invoice
mentions the CIF value).
