Jan. 30 2012 - SDV Supports Major Telecommunication Modernization Projects in The Philippines

In line with our strategic development in the telecom industry, SDV Philippines has been awarded by a major Chinese telecom manufacturer a Swap project (setting up new telecom equipment and removing the old one) in the southern island of Mindanao.

The phase 2 of the project has started in late November.  From our two bases in Mindanao (Davao and Cagayan de Oro), we have been able to deliver 179 different sites within 4 weeks. The delivery service was inclusive of last mile delivery usually in remote area, due to the location of telecom antenna.

For that purpose SDV Philippines found different ways of crossing the 1,000 km of sea through the Archipelago separating Manila from Mindanao with domestic containerized vessels, Roro services and airfreight for express deliveries.

Inland, a fleet of trucks were assuming the daily deliveries. Our team from Manila was able to coordinate between the technicians on-site receiving the cargo, the client, the trucker and also the local manpower on-site hired to perform the last mile delivery safely, on schedules and with agreed performance indicators.

This team was able to perform coordination of hauling in the jungle, crossing rivers and climbing mountains. As an example the last delivery was made in the small island of Dinagat, 6km in the forest in the mountain at night, when the Typhoon Sendong which devastated the North of the Island was still pouring down. During the phase 2, the longest hauling was 13km long on a mountain trail surrounded by active wildlife (snakes, monkeys...).

SDV Philippines is now starting the phase 3 of this project with 350 deliveries to be completed by the end of March.
