The SDV Team in Pakistan Volunteered to Help People After the Tragic Floods in the Country
Many natural disasters occurred in the world in 2010, leaving thousands dead and many more homeless. Pakistan has not been an exception. The 2010 Pakistan floods were the most devastating in its history. The United Nations has rated the floods as the greatest humanitarian crisis in recent history with more people affected than after the South-East Asian tsunami.
In order to take part in the relief program, SDV in Pakistan deployed a mission to assist the affected people in the deserted district of D.I. Khan.
From the outset, the victims were threatened by outbreaks of epidemic diseases. Focusing on that, SDV in Pakistan set up medical camps and dispatched medicine, drinking water and food packages, to avoid water-borne diseases and hunger, with a special attention towards children. Our first camp was set up on the 14th of August in the Rasheed and Bhirki villages.
